Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce modulated waves, by selecting four carrier waves synchronized with modulation signal waves having the phase difference of pi/2 mutually as the carrier waves, in order in every 1/2 cycle of said modulation signal waves, and by using the selected carrier waves. CONSTITUTION:The pulse width modulation system of a power converter is provided with power converter units 2a-2b, a balance reactor 5, a timing signal generating circuit 6, a signal wave generating circuit 8, a code inversion circuit 9, a pulse width modulation circuit 10, a carrier wave generating circuit 12 for generating four chopping waves(carrier waves)A-D having the phase difference of pi/2 mutually, and carrier wave selecting circuits 11U-11W. Then, as carrier waves, four carrier waves synchronized with modulation signal waves having the phase difference of pi/2 mutually are selected in order in every 1/2 cycle of said modulation signal waves, and the selected carrier waves are used. Then, on overall line output voltage, zero-level output drop in every 1/2 cycle of the carrier waves is prevented from being generated.
