Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce greatly the conversion time for the successive comparison type A/D converter by securing the generation of a series of clock signal pulses which reduce sequentially from the clock signal generator in accordance with the set ring time of each bit.
CONSTITUTION: D/A converter 3 accumulates the bits from the higer ranks to generate the reference voltage. This reference voltage is compared with the input analog voltage through comparator 2. Then the output of comparator 2 are memorized via successive comparison register 4 and with every bit, and at the same time the presence or absence of the addition of the next-rank bits is indicated to converter 3. And a series of clock signal pulses which reduce sequentially in accordance with the set ring time of each bit are generated from clock signal generator 8. Thus the conversion time can be reduced greatly for converter 3.
