Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the connection of a superconducting chip by a method which includes the steps of burying a superconducting IC chip in a substrate in such a manner that the chip surface having electrodes and circuit is leveled with the substrate surface, applying insulator all over the IC chip except the electrodes, and applying superconductive material directly to the chip while maintaining the temperature of the substrate within a range where the chip may not be destroyed. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting IC chip 4 is prepared which includes a superconducting circuit made of an oxide, e.g., YBa2Cu3O7, formed on a silicon wafer using a thin-film technique, and a signal output 3. An aluminum nitride substrate 5 is also prepared which includes an opening for closely and completely accommodate the chip 4. The chip 4 is buried in the opening of the substrate in such a manner that its electrode 3 is at the surface level of the substrate 5. The entire surface, except for the IC chip electrodes, is coated with an insulating layer of polyimide resin by screen printing. The circuit pattern is irradiated with plasma through a resist having holes (lift-off technique) to simultaneously perform the circuit formation and electrode connection.
