Abstract

PURPOSE:To retard a deterioration in positive active material performance and to improve high rate charge-discharge cycle life by using a positive mix containing an amorphous transition metal chalcogen compound and metal powder constituting this compound as a positive active material of a nonaqueous solvent secondary battery. CONSTITUTION:A positive current collector 2 is spot-welded to the inside bottom of a stainless steel container 1 which also serves as a positive terminal of a nonaqueous solvent secondary battery. A stainless steel container 7 which also serves as a negative terminal is fitted to the opening of the container 1 via a gasket 6. A positive mix 4, a separator 5, and a negative electrode 4 are sealed in the containers 1 and 7. An amorphous transition metal chalcogen compound and metal powder constituting this compound are contained in the positive mix 4 as a positive active material. The content of the metal powder constituting the metal chalcogen compound is 0.1-5.0mol% based on the compound, and vanadium pentoxide is used as the amorphous transition metal chalcogen compound.
