Abstract
PURPOSE:To highten the reliability of a secondary battery with a nonaqueous electrolyte, by designing the discharge capacity of the cathode to be smaller than that of the anode to limit the discharge cpacity of the battery by that of the cathode. CONSTITUTION:In a secondary battery with a nonaqueous electrolyte, the cathode is made of lithium and lithium alloy and the anode is made of manganese dioxide, vanadium pentoxide, titanium oxide or the like which is mixed with the electrolyte material, the separator material and carbon powder. The discharge capacity of the cathode is set smaller than that of the anode to enable proper discharge by charging in a charge/discharge cycle. This results in heightening the reliability of the secondary battery.
