Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an ultra-high-strength extra fine wire excellent in fatigue characteristics by subjecting a wire having a specific composition consisting of C, Si, Mn, and Fe and also having a composite structure of ferritic phase and low-temp. transformation forming phase to high-degree working to form a unidirectional hyperfine fibrous structure. CONSTITUTION:A wire of <=about 3.5mm wire diameter having a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.01-0.50% C, <=3.0% Si, <=5.0% Mn, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and further containing, preferably, <=0.0001% H is heated to about 700-1,100 deg.C and cooled, by which a composite structure of ferritic phase and low-temp. transformation forming phase composed of martensite, bainite, or a mixed structure thereof is formed. This wire is subjected to wiredrawing by means of high-degree working of >=about 4 working strain. By the above procedure, a fibrous hyperfine metallic structure in which hyperfine cells of 5-100Angstrom are unidirectionally arranged into a fibrous state and interfibrous space is regulated to 50-1,000Angstrom is formed. By this method, the ultra-high-strength extra fine wire in which wire diameter and strength are regulated to <=160mum and >=300kgf/mm<2>, preferably to <=100mum and about 320-600kgf/mm<2>, can be obtained.
