PURPOSE:To suppress defoliation and slipping-off of a surface layer effectively, increase the mechanical strength, and maintain high battery capacity for a long period of time by using powder of hydrogen absorption alloy covered with a metal dispersion layer on the surface of the powder of hydrogen absorption alloy as main component. CONSTITUTION:La, Ni5 having hydrogen absorption ability are crushed by mechanical means and turned into fine powder, which is covered with indium metal by a plating method using sulfamine acid bath, followed by heating under vacuum to disperse the indium in the surface of the alloy in a thickness of several tens to several hundreds Angstrom , to turn it into alloy.
