Abstract

PURPOSE:To cause an apparatus to have a protective function even at a stationary time by lowering the detection ratio or speed of response of a current detection circuit only while a signal is being sent to the circuit. CONSTITUTION:While an ON signal is sent from a controlling circuit 6a to a power source 1, the pulse signal of a constant length of time is sent to a current detection circuit 3a. While the pulse signal is being sent out, the speed of detection or response of the current detection circuit 3a is set at a value lower than that in a stationary state so as to be suited to speed characteristics at the beginning of voltage application. Therefore, the output signal level of the current detection circuit 3a is kept at a low value, even if a high rush current flows therethrough. When the pulse signal is out, the detection ratio or speed of response of the current detection circuit 3a is set at a value suited to a stationary state. Thus, the optimum protection characteristics can be obtained even at a stationary time, because a pulse signal is sent out for a certain period of time in case of voltage application so as to vary the characteristics of the current detection circuit 3a or the output value of the reference signal generator circuit 4.
