Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the burning of an overload protecting device due to a short circuit or an overload, by providing a means to detect the voltage drop between the connection lines of a DC constant voltage power supply and a load. CONSTITUTION:When a high current higher than a rated level flows to a load 2 due to a short circuit of an electric circuit or other factors, the interline voltage V'C increases between a DC constant voltage source 1 and the load 2. This voltage V'C is amplified by a differential amplifier 31 and applied to an input terminal of a comparator 33 to be compared with the reference voltage VB applied to the other input terminal. In such way, VC>=VB is detected. Thus the comparator 33 supplies a protection command signal SP to a constant voltage control part 14 of the power supply 1. As a result, the part 14 discontinues the pulse generation of an intermittent control pulse generating circuit and then turns off a switching transistor 12 consecutively. As a result, the DC output of the power supply 1 is stopped to prevent an abnormal supply of current to the load 2.
