Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting material, having the stable high critical temperature and formable into fine wiry materials, thin films, etc., by partially substituting copper with manganese in a group IIIa element of the periodic table-barium-copper-oxygen based superconducting material. CONSTITUTION:An element M (M is group IIIa element of the periodic table) or a compound powder thereof (e.g., Y2O3 powder), Ba or a compound powder thereof (e.g., BaCO3 powder), copper or a compound powder thereof (e.g., CuO powder) and Mn or a compound powder thereof (e.g., MnO powder) are prepared. The above-mentioned raw composition powders are subsequently blended so as to provide a compound oxide having a composition expressed by the formula (0.3<=w<=1.95; 0.05<=x<=1.8; 2<=z<=5; 0.01<=y<=0.6) and contain Y as an essential component. The obtained blended powder is then preferably calcined, pulverized and sintered to afford the aimed superconducting material, containing the compound oxide expressed by the formula and having the high critical temperature.
