Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove gas adsorbed on the surface of Al alloy powder and to improve the mechanical strength of a molded body such as the toughness, by compacting the Al alloy powder under prescribed conditions, heating the resulting green compact to a prescribed temp. to carry out degassing and press- molding the compact. CONSTITUTION:Al alloy powder is compacted at <=100 deg.C to obtain a green compact whose density is 75-95% of the true density. The compact is heated to 400-500 deg.C to remove gas adsorbed on the surface of the powder and then the compact is press-molded.
