Abstract
PURPOSE:To mold forged products having excellent mechanical strength by adding and mixing hydrogen-storing metallic powder to Al alloy powder, subjecting it to green compacting, heating the green compact to execute degas and H2 gas storing thereto and thereafter press molding said green compact. CONSTITUTION:The hydrogen-storing metallic powder is added to the Al alloy powder and they are uniformly mixed. As the above-mentioned Al alloy powder, atomizing powder, splat powder, etc., are suitably used. As the above-mentioned hydrogen-storing metallic powder, Ti, Zr, etc., are furthermore used; it grain size is preferably regulated to <=150mu and its addition amt. to 0.2-3.0wt.%. Said mixed powder is then subjected to green compacting at about ordinary temp.-100 deg.C under about 6-8 ton/cm<2>. The obtd. green compact is heated to about 400-500 deg.C in an Ar atmosphere of atmospheric pressure or in a vacuum to execute the storing of degas and H2. The green compact is thereafter compressed to a preliminarily molded product having almost true density and is furthermore press molded at about 300-500 deg.C by a mold for forging molding. In this way, the mechanical strength of the product after forging can be drastically improved.
