Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a sintered part excellent in dimensional accuraty and durability economically by the procedure in which an iron powder mixture is molded to a specific density, sintered at a high temperature, hardened, tempered, molded in a mold by a compression molding method, and then its dimention and shape are corrected.
CONSTITUTION: An iron powder mixture, consisiting of atomized iron powder, Ni(CO)4 powder, Mo, Cu and carbon, for example, is molded to a density of 90W 95% by a pressing machine, sintered at 1,250W1,350°C, hardened, tempered at 550W750°C in a non-oxidative atmosphere, and then recompressed to obtain optimum thermal refined structure. Then, the sintered body thus heat-refined is molded by pressing in order to correct its dimension and shape and also to raise its density to 93W97%.
