Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve incomplete welding detecting accuracy of a can barrel by providing damage sensors to detect a damaged part of the electrode faces and eliminating the can barrel welded by the electrode faces. CONSTITUTION:Rolling rolls 4 to perform rolling or rolling slightly are provided to a linear electrode 3 and outside and inside electrode rolls 1 and 2 to perform resistance welding of a lap 6a of a can barrel preform 6 are arranged. Further, the damage sensors 11-14 of the electrode faces 3a and 3b of the linear electrode 3 are arranged at prescribed places respectively. At this time, when the sensors 11-14 detect the damage of the linear electrode 3, a signal is inputted to a rejector 31 via a delay circuit and the can barrel 7 welded by the defective electrode 3 is eliminated by the rejector 31. Since the can barrel 7 welded be the damaged electrode regardless of the new electrode and the reused electrode can be surely eliminated, the incomplete welding detecting accuracy of the can barrel 7 is improved.
