Abstract

PURPOSE:To stop a crane correctly by providing the crane with two detecting members and a pulse encoder in such a manner as to operate a fine address detection only when a rough address is detected. CONSTITUTION:A stacker crane 1, which travels along a rack 2 having load placing portions 11 arranged in a row, is provided with a roller conveyor 16 for carrying in and out a load, which is mounted on a carriage 8. The main body 5 has detectors 21, 22 for detecting detected plates 20 at the lower portion thereof. The detector 22 is adapted to detect a passing plate to detect a rough address, and when it reaches a goal section, the detector 21 is operated and a pulse encoder is synchronously operated. A correct stop position for the crane is detected by arithmetic operation of these devices and is stopped at a correct position.
