Abstract

PURPOSE:To position a stacker crane correctly by providing the crane with a mechanism for detecting the present position of the crane with a rough address having a large distance pitch and a fine address having a small pitch. CONSTITUTION:A rack 2 of a three dimensional storehouse is provided with a load receiver 14 for supporting a load 13 through supports partitioning into load placing portions 11. A path 12 between the racks has a carriage 7 where a stacker crane 1 elevates, and is adapted to move. The main body 5 of the crane 1 is provided with a support detector 20 used as a rough address detector, which is also used as a fine address detector by interlocking a pulse encoder 19 with a travelling wheel 18, whereby a stop position can be detected with high accuracy in a comparatively simple constitution by using both detectors in its proper way according to each characterstic.
