Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the contrast of pictures to be improved by placing a specified pigment layer between a face plate and a fluorescent screen. CONSTITUTION:Between a face plate and a fluorescent screen is placed a pigment layer, which consists of pigment particles having an average particle diameter of 0.005mum-0.07mum, and has a film thickness of 150-2500 angstrom. In addition, the pigment particles constituting the pigment layer are comprised of cobalt aluminate or iron oxide red, and the fluorescent screen is comprised of silver activated zinc sulfide or europium-activated acid yttrium sulfide. Thereby, the brightness and contrast of pictures of a cathode-ray tube can be improved synthetically.
