Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a color picture tube by which clear picture can be appreciated on the side as well as in the front of an apparatus by making the diameter of a red luminescent particle equal to or greater than those of other particles.
CONSTITUTION: The diameter of a particle of fluorescent material contained in a red luminescent fluorescent material layer formed on the internal side of a face plate is made, for examle, more than 5 μ. If the diameter of a red luminescent fluorescent particle is made equal to or more than those of other fluorescent particles having a luminescent color, cohesion of the red luminescent material to the internal surface of the face plate will be equal or smaller than that of other fluorescent materials having a luminescent color. Therefore even if a picture is appreciated in the front or in the slanting direction, part of the picture does not show reddish color and reproduced picture having a distinct color tone can be appreciated.
