Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain high wavelength conversion efficiency and to extract a 2nd higher harmonic in a red range efficiently by charging a nonlinear optical material PRA of specific single crystal as a core and setting the crystal orientation of the PRA and the linear polarized light direction of a basic wave. CONSTITUTION:This module consists of a fiber type light wavelength converting element 10 and a light source unit 20. The PRA shown by a formula I is used in a single-crystal state for the core 11 of the light wavelength converting element 10, the crystal orientation direction of the PRA constituting the core 1 is set to the direction where its (c) axis extend nearly in the long-axis direction of the core 11, and the light source unit 20, on the other hand, is so constituted that the basic wave which is polarized linearly in the direction of the (a) or (b) axis of the crystal is incident on the light wavelength converting element 10. Consequently, the light wavelength conversion efficiency is high and the 2nd higher harmonic in the blue range is easily obtained.
