Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the coarsening of crystal grains of the titled alloy at the time of a heat treatment by adding specific amounts of one or more kinds among Zr, Y and Ce to Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of the shape memory alloy is constituted of, by weight, 10-35% Zn, 1-12% Al, one or more kinds among 0.001-4.0% Zr, 0.4-2.0% Y and 0.06-2.0% Ce and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities. In said compsn., Zr, Y and Ce fine the crystal grains and suppress the coarsening of the crystal grains following a heat treatment. Said alloy furthermore has sufficient shape recovering capacity when it is deformed under high stress. The alloy moreover has excellent intergranular cracks.
