Abstract

In order to lower a correcting ability and to raise an ability to detect a data destruction compared with the time of an ordinary reproduction, a change signal is sent from the control circuit 36 to an ECC circuit 22, and the check level of an ECC is changed. Next, a start address sector is reproduced, the setting value of a counter 35 is used, and the presence or absence of the data destruction of each sector is checked. The address in which the data destruction is generated due to the tracking error is stored into the memory 34.
