Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the durability and reliability of a photosensitive body consisting of an amorphous silicon photosensitive body by providing no grid electrodes to all of corona dischargers which subject the above-mentioned photosensitive body to electrostatic charging and destaticizing treatments. CONSTITUTION:No grid electrodes are provided to all of the corona dischargers 2, 5, 7, 9 which subject the photosensitive body 1 to the electrostatic charging and destaticizing treatments. As a result, the generation of spark discharge is obviated and, therefore, even if the photosensitive body 1 is the amorphous silicon photosensitive body having easy susceptibility to damage by the spark discharge, the photosensitive body 1 is not damaged and is thereby rendered with higher durability and reliability. An image forming device which makes best use of the various outstanding characteristics of the photosensitive body 1 is thus obtd. A loss of a grid effect and the easy tendency to the generation of unequal electrostatic charge are resulted from the provision of no grid electrodes to the corona dischargers 2, 5, 7, 9, but the electrophotographic characteristics of the amorphous silicon photosensitive body are superior to the characteristics of the other photosensitive bodies. The high image quality is thus maintained stably for a long period of time.
