Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic brush cleaning device of high reliability by using plural sets of magnetic brushes of different roll biases. CONSTITUTION:Two or other pieces of magnetic brush rolls 1, 2 in contact with a photoreceptor 3 are set with low bias voltages of V1<V2 at different voltages V1, V2. The brush 1 is used for a toner of low electrostatic charge quantity and the brush 2 for a toner of high electrostatic charge quantity. Therefore, the range of cleanable electrostatic charge quantity is expanded and the toner of high electrostatic charge quantity can be cleaned as well. Hence, no influence are given upon the cleaning characteristics of the toner of normal electrostatic charge in spite of increasing of a precleaning Corotron current value in order to decrease the distribution quantity of the reversed polarity toner. As a result, the magnetic brush cleaning devie of high reliability is obtained.
