Abstract

1,026,262. Electrophotographic processes. RANK XEROX Ltd. March 28, 1963 [April 4, 1962], No.12327/63. Heading G2H. A corona discharge device 30 is provided in a continuous xerographic copying apparatus in operative relation with the plate 11 for depositing sensitizing charges thereon and is connected in parallel with a second corona discharge transfer device 40 in operative relation to the plate. The devices 30 and 40 are supplied from a high voltage supply through a resistance 55 and optionally a resistance 54. The device 40 has a lower resistance than the device 30 and has a steeper currentvoltage curve, Fig. 4, than the device 30. The sensitizing device 30 may have a wire 32 of 0.0035 inches in diameter, while the transfer device 40 may have a wire 42 of from 0.0065 to 0.0090 and preferably 0.0075 inchs.in diameter. The transfer device 40 acts as voltage regulator for the sensitizing device 30, such that plate voltage varies less than variations in supply voltage.
