Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain good superconduction characteristics by using a metal sheath of silver alloy containing 5 to 20wt.% of palladium and enabling heating temperature to rise approx. up to the sintering temperature of usual ceramic system superconductor. CONSTITUTION:A tubular metal sheath made of silver alloy containing 5 to 20wt.% of palladium as stabilizing layer and superconductive power are prepared, and the superconductive powder is filled into the metal sheath made of silver alloy, then they are diameter-shrunk overall by swaging, drawing, etc., into wire. Here, the superconductive powder containing elements constituting an oxide superconductive material is used. The wire is heat-treated in an ambience containing oxygen to obtain a superconducting lead wire 1 by fully sintering superconductor used as a core material 2. Thereby, the melting point becomes 900 deg.C or more even in the oxygen ambience, and the heating temperature can be raised compared to the case of pure silver metal sheath, thus good conduction characteristics can be obtained.
