Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the detection of an abnormal feeding generated during the feeding of a continuous business form, by providing an optical sensor on a feeding path, and recognizing the feeding condition of the business form by a microprocessor in a printer through data sent from the sensor. CONSTITUTION:A ROM in a main controlling part 7 incorporates a control program for a CPU, and a RAM stores data sent from a sensor amplifier 6 and data on variable parts such as driving data on a tractor 5. The CPU gives instructions for various operations to controlled systems, and a continuous business form 1 is printed while being fed by the tractor 5. In normal paper feeding, a tractor hole 4 comes to a position on the optical axis 3 of an optical sensor 2 each time the business form is fed by a predetermined distance, so that an electrical signal emitted from the sensor 2 is varied accordingly. When an abnormal feeding of the business form is generated, the business form skews or comes off from the tractor 5, so that the electrical signal from the sensor 2 is not varied even when the business form is fed by the predetermined distance. Thus, an abnormal feeding of the business form can be easily detected, and misprinting can be prevented.
