Abstract
PURPOSE: To automatically confirm the paper width, paper setting position and the like in an inserting device, by a method wherein the position of a pocket for retaining the paper inserted into an inserting device is detected and a printing opeation for the paper is controlled.
CONSTITUTION: When the paper is inserted into the pocket 4a, 4b, it is detected by a detector constituted of a light-emitting diode L and a light-receiving element FT, and a detection signal is fed to an interface PiAe. A processing part MPU discriminates whether or not a printing head is on the left of the left pocket 4a by comparing the contents of a register R1 with the contents of the interface PiAd. When the result is YES, a control is performed such that a printing pressure change- over signal is outputted through the interface PiAd and a driving circuit Dr4. If the head is located on the right of the pocket 4a, it is discriminated whether or not the head is located on the left of the right pocket 4b. When the result is NO, the printing pressure change-over signal is made to be H, and on the other hand, when the result is YES, the signal is set to be L. Thus, a printing pressure controlling operation is completed.
