CONSTITUTION:When the condensate of an atomic power plant is purified by a hollow yarn membrane filter 9, precoat material 13 such as crystalline iron oxide powder is injected into the condensate from a precoat material tank 12 connected to the upstream side of the filter 9 during the purification operation before the starting of the plant or during the starting operation to form the layer of the precoat material on the membrane surface of the filter 9. By this method, the membrane clogging substance formed in the condensate in the course of time from the shutdown for periodical inspection to the resumption of operation is collected by the precoat material, access of the membrane clogging substance to the membrane surface is prevented to the utmost, and the clogging of the membrane can be reduced. Since the precoating is carried out only when the precoat is needed, an increase in the amt. of waste due to the precoat material can be suppressed.
