Abstract

1390058 Treating waste water and sewage TECHFINA SA 7 Aug 1972 [11 August 1971] 36770/72 Heading C1C Domestic waste water or sewage is mixed with flocculant in tank 1, sediment is withdrawn at 2 and the liquid delivered by pump 4 to a filter 5 wherein it is filtered downwards through a bed of active carbon or mixture of materials unspecified, the bed being between 50 and 100 cm. in height, the filtrate being discharged through buffer tank 8. This filtration is silated to remove biodegradable impurities, the carbon not acting as an adsorbent or becoming saturated but serving as a biological filter. The filtrate may be aerated and then filtered through a second active carbon bed of similar height.
