Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of a glass film in the course of the finish annealing of a steel sheet to which the undermentioned separation agent at annealing is applied and to improve punchability, by providing a separation agent at annealing in which prescribed percentages of chlorides of alkali metals or alkaline-earth metals are incorporated to magnesia. CONSTITUTION:This separation agent at annealing is composed of a compounding material consisting of 100pts.wt. of magnesia and 2-40pts.wt. of one or more kinds among the chlorides of alkali metals or alkaline-earth metals. A grain-oriented magnetic steel sheet to which the above separation agent at annealing is applied is subjected to finish annealing. In the course of the above procedure, SiO2 in an oxide film on the steel-sheet surface is etched by the chlorides in the separation agent. Accordingly, the formation of a glass film formed by the reaction of SiO2 with magnesia is prevented. By this method, a grain-oriented magnetic steel sheet excellent in punchability can be obtained.
