Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically magnetically shield and to obtain an inexpensive magnetic resonance imaging magnet by so providing a high temperature superconductor cylindrical assembly disposed substantially coaxially with a superconducting coil as to enclose the coil. CONSTITUTION:A high temperature superconductor cylindrical assembly 10 is so disposed substantially coaxially therewith as to enclose coil pairs AA'-CC' of a first superconducting coil assembly 1. The uniformity of the magnetic field of the assembly 10 is so formed as to have the uniformity equivalent to or more than that of the magnetic field formed thereat by the assembly 1. Then, even if a current does not flow due to the leakage magnetic field of the assembly 10, it is automatically shielded. Thus, an inexpensive magnetic resonance imaging magnet is obtained.
