Abstract

PURPOSE:To fix a discharge tube surely in a narrow space by a method wherein the discharge tube is held by the 1st holding member and the 2nd holding member having a ferromagnetic substance and both holding members are attracted through the ferromagnetic substance by the magnetic force generated between magnetic poles. CONSTITUTION:The discharge tube 16 as the light source for an atomic absorption spectrophotometer which has the background compensating function through utilization of the Zeeman effect is held and fixed between a holder 20 which is the 1st holding member and a presser 22 which is the 2nd holding member in the space between the magnetic poles 10 and 12 of a magnet 8, while the ferromagnetic substance 24 such as an iron rod is buried in the presser 22 and the presser is made operable by a grip 26. Accordingly, the ferromagnetic substance 24 is attracted toward the center 28 of the magnetic poles by the electromagnetic force and the discharge tube 16 is fixed by the force of the attracted substance, whereby the fixation of the tube is assured. In addition, insertion of any other parts into the space between the magnetic poles 10 and 12 becomes unnecessary and thereby the gap between the poles can be made minimum.
