Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain easily a highly uniform magnetic field, by a method wherein the uniformity of magnetic field generated by a coil is adjusted by disposing a superconductor for the coil. CONSTITUTION:A superconductor 1 is stuck on the normal temperature part of the external wall of a cryostat 3. A shielding current is made to flow through the superconductor 1, so as to cancel the magnetic field applied by a coil 2. The uniformity of the magnetic field of the coil 2 is adjusted by the magnetic field generated by the shielding current. For the superconductor 1, high temperature superconductor of Y-Ba-Cu-O system, e.g., is used. Thereby, highly uniform magnetic field is easily obtained.
