Abstract

PURPOSE:To prolong the life by making the side wall of a voltage battery jar in double construction, making the inner side wall in the direction of placing electrode plates with a smaller wall thickness than the outer side wall, filling the space between the side walls with liquid, and thereby suppressing reduction of water content in the electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Thin inner walls 4 are provided in the direction of placing electrode plate 1, 2, and thereby they are allowed to deform with changing of the group thickness of the electrode plates, so that a constant pressure is applied at all times to the electrode plates. The spaces between the inner side walls and outer side walls 5 are filled with water 7, which suppresses reduction of water content in the electrolyte, and supply of water 7 to the electrode plates retains well contact of the electrode plates 1, 2 with isolators 3. The water supply speed is adjusted by the wall thickness, and design is performed with presumption of the liquid reduction in battery. Contact of the electrode plates 1, 2 with isolators 3 is kept well by compensating the deviation of the actually reduced liquid from the design with pressurization of the electrode plates.
