Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optimum working speed by estimating the working speed and working gap state by applying the statistical treatment onto the position detection signal or the no-load time of a working electrode and determining a standard instruction value in the working gap control on the basis of the above-described estimation values. CONSTITUTION:The position signal of a working electrode 2 which is outputted from an electrode driving device 5 is applied with the statistical treatment in the state estimating device 10 of a corresponding control device 12, and the working speed and the quantity which represents the working gap state from a workpiece 3 are estimated. On the basis of the estimation value and a set value, a compensating device 11 determines a standard instruction value for the working gap control from the previously determined correspondence principle. An electrode control device 7 controls the working speed and the working gap state by the electrode driving device 5 according to the signal of an electric discharge state detector 6 on the basis of the standard instruction value, and working is carried out by the instruction of a locus instruction value setting device 9. Therefore, the control to a proper working gap distance is executed, and an optimum working speed can be obtained.
