Abstract

PURPOSE:To set the machining voltage of a wire cut discharge machining accurately and optimally, by detecting the thickness of the work and controlling the machining voltage such that it will be the set value suited to the thickness. CONSTITUTION:The arm slider 5 of the wire cut discharge work machine will slide in Z direction corresponding to the thickness of the work 11 upon the processing. The detection head 7 reads the position in Z direction of the arm slider 5 then detects the thickness of the work 11 and feeds to the control signal output circuit 9. Sadi circuit 9 will produce the control signal indicating the set value of the machining voltage corresponding to the thickness and feed to the operational circuit 25 for a control means 15. The output voltage of the power source 1 is controlled such that the output from a rectifier circuit 23 and the control signal are compared in the operational circuit 25 and the sliding voltage regulator 21 is moved by a motor 29 to make them equal. In such a manner it is adjusted to the optimal working voltage irrespectively of the variation of the input voltage.
