Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve resolution and reproducibility by alternately laminating light emitting layers and insulating layers, time-dividedly and alternately emitting respective light emitting layers and controlling its time division ratio so as to find out required hue and gradation. CONSTITUTION: In a light emitting element constituted of a substrate 1, a transparent electrode layer 2, light emitting layers 4, 8 consisting of two or more layers, and a rear electrode 10, the light emitting layers 4, 8 and insulating layers 3, 5, 7, 9 are alternately laminated. Required hue and gradation can be obtained by time-dividedly and alternately emitting the layers 4, 8 and controlling its time division ratio. Consequently the hue and gradation of polychromatic mixed color can be controlled by a simple circuit at high resolution and high reproducibility.
