Abstract
PURPOSE:To inexpensively obtain H2 while preventing the generation of NOx without requiring a refractory material, etc., by burning the NH3 obtained from coke-oven gas in the presence of air into N2 and water, and recovering the H2. CONSTITUTION:The NH3 in the coke-oven gas (COG) 1 is absorbed by an NH3 scrubber, distilled, and separated into two systems. One system is preheated by an NH3 still 3, introduced into an oxidation reactor 5a, brought into contact with the air 4, and burned at about 500 deg.C to oxidize a part of the NH3. After the heat of the other system is recovered in the reactor 5a, the system is introduced into a decomposition reactor 6a, and continuously heated by an oxidizing gas. The system is repeatedly oxidized, and decomposed in a multi-stage reactors 5n and 6n. The gas from the final reactor 6n is introduced into an H2 separator 7, and the H2 8 is recovered. Meanwhile, the oxidizing gas from the final reactor 5n is introduced into the scrubber 2; unreacted NH3 is absorbed; the gas other than NH3 is discharged along with the refined COG 9 to treat the NH3; and the H2 8 is obtained.
