Abstract

PURPOSE:To rapidly heat a steel strip without oxidizing the steel strip by providing a specified number of double pipes to a burner tile bottom part, passing gaseous fuel and air in parallel with the axis of a burner and specifying the air ratio thereof and the distance between the steel strip and the tile bottom part. CONSTITUTION:Double pipe type discharge holes 2 of >=5 holes per 100cm<2> of the bottom area of the burner tile bottom part 1 are provided to said bottom part. The air (or gaseous fuel) is then passed from the outside pipes 3 and the gaseous fuel (or air) from the inside pipes 4 in parallel with the central axis of the burner. The heating is executed by adjusting the air ratio (ratio to the ideal quantity of air) to 0.7-0.9 and adjusting the distance between the steel strip and the burner tile bottom part to 100-400mm at this time. The reduction region is thereby obtd. over a wide range. The steel strip is thus rapidly heated without being oxidized even if the spacing between the burner and the steel strip changes owing to the oscillation, etc. of the steel strip.
