Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of color tone difference on the top and bottom surfaces of a steel strip by respectively detecting torques of a spindle of a couple of work rolls, detecting a lubricating state of a rolling oil for a rolled stock based on a difference between detected torques, and controlling a rolling oil flow rate to uniformize lubrication. CONSTITUTION:A torque value of respective roll driving spindles 54, 55 of a couple of work rolls 26A, 26B of a mechanical tight type rolling mill driven by a motor 28. Then, a deviation between torque values is calculated and whether abnormal color tone is generated on the upper work roll 26A or lower work roll 26B side is decided based on the deviation. A rolling oil flow rate is adjusted based on the decision result to obtain a uniform color tone. Therefore, generation of color tone difference between the top and bottom faces of a steel strip is prevented.
