Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce influences of roll eccentricity on plate thickness as far as possible and to improve accuracy of plate thickness control remarkably by detecting change of distance between roll chocks and thereby detecting change of roll gap caused by roll eccentricity exactly. CONSTITUTION:A preset signal for setting the distance between roll chocks 5u, 5d to an initial distance So which is inputted to a control section 10 beforehand is sent from the control section 10 to a motor 8. The roll gap is made to coincide with the distance So by adjusting a screw 3 using the motor 8. When a load cell 9 detects that the top part of a strip 7 to be shifted is caught between work rolls 1u, 1d, the distance S1 between chocks 5u, 5d is detected plural times, and the average value is stored as a reference value. Thereafter, the distance Si betwen chocks 5u, 5d is detected at specified timing, and difference epsiloni between the detected value Si and reference value S1 is calculated succesively. The screw 3 is raised or lowered to requlate to epsilon=0, and when it is detected by a signal from the cell 9 that the strip has passed the rolling mill, controlling is terminated.
