Abstract
PURPOSE:To enlarge an electrode reaction area and improve the extent of cell capacity per external area of a cell as well as to aim at the promotion of miniaturization and high performance of the cell by forming a unit cell consisting of a cathode, an anode and an electrolyte partitioned off by adjacent separators into a folded structure at least in a portion. CONSTITUTION:A cell structure in a form that corrugated electrode 2, 4 are crushed flatwise, that is, in such a form that at least one portion of these electrodes 2 and 4 is turned up and lapped with each other is used. Each one portion of these electrodes 2 and 4 is bent and lapped with each other, whereby these electrodes 2 and 4 having a wider area than external area can be housed in the external area of a cell, so that even if the cell external area is the same, an electrode is necessary for an electrode reaction is increased, thus cell capac ity is improved. With such a method that an area of the lapped part is widened or lapping frequency is increased or the like, the electrode area can be enlarged to any extent even if the external area of the cell is the same.
