Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled superconductor capable of giving superconducting electric current at practical current density, by forming oxide superconducting powder followed by subjecting the powder to heating process in a magnetic field under an oxygen-contg. atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:First, a feedstock containing rare earth metal, alkaline earth metal and copper is prepared and calcined etc. to manufacture oxide superconducting powder. Thence, this powder is formed by e.g. packing into a cylindrical substrate. The resultant form is then subjected to heating process in a magnetic field under an oxygen-contg. atmosphere to obtain the objective oxide superconductor. Appropriate application of the magnetic field will be that in the direction perpendicular to the electric current expected for the superconductor. By such application, the texture of the superconductor will be rearranged in such a direction as to easy to flow for the electric current by the action of the magnetic field during the heating process, therefore effecting enhancement of the electric current density.
