Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable simple measurement by sealing a sensor body formed with a pair of electrodes on the surface of a thin film consisting of a metal oxide together with the dry air which is reduced in pressure into a bag made of a polyimide resin film and permeating gaseous hydrogen selectively through the film.
CONSTITUTION: The sensor body 4 is formed by providing the thin film 2 of the metal oxide on the surface of a substrate 1 consisting of an inorg. insulating material and forming a pair of the electrodes 3 on the surface of the thin film 2. The body 4 is then sealed together with the dry air which is reduced in pressure into the bag 5 made of the polyimide film. The bag 5 in which the body 4 is sealed is thereafter immersed into the insulating oil of the electrical equipment to be analyzed and the gaseous hydrogen is selectively permeated through the film to change the surface resistance of the thin film 2 according to the concn. of the gaseous hydrogen. The surface resistance is detected as the resistance between the electrodes 3, by which the concn. of the gaseous hydrogen is measured. The measurement is thus made by the simple operation.
