PURPOSE:To use the same IO module for processors having different word constitutions by forming an allocation table for determining the unit and order of data transfer in a programmable machine controller (PMC). CONSTITUTION:Data such as the arrangement of IO modules 6, 7 and the sort of the modules is stored in the allocation table 5a. The allocation data are written in a control program 3a or a sequence program 3b, and at the time of turning on a power supply, the data are transferred to an IO unit 5 and stored in the allocation table 5a. In addition information indicating whether the word constitutions of the IO modules 6, 7 are the same as that of a processor 1 or not is stored in the table 5a, and when the word constitutions are different, data conversion is executed by a conversion means 5b. Thereby, one kind of the IO module can be connected to plural processors having different word constitutions.
