Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent water from permeating or moving from a conductor to an insulator and to discharge volatile components such as moisture generated in the insulator out of a cable by winding a semiconductive tape made mainly of a fluorinated resin porous structure having both water resistance and moisture permeability over the conductor. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductive tape 2 mainly made of a fluorinated resin porous structure is wrapped around a circular cross-sectional compressed conductor 1. Over them are simultaneously extruded three layers of a semiconductive polyethylene layer 3, a polyethylene insulation layer 5 added with cross-linking agent, and a semiconductive polyethylene layer 4 followed by heating for cross- linking. Since the tape has both water resistance and appropriate moisture permeability, movement of water from the conductor to the insulator is perfectly prevented and still the moisture in the insulator is discharged out of a cable.
