Abstract
913,711. Insulation. GREENGATE & IRWELL RUBBER CO. Ltd. May 12, 1961 [May 31, 1960], No. 19143/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 36. A two-layer insulation is provided for electrical conductors, the inner layer being a vulcanized butyl compound and the outer a vulcanized blend of a vinyl chloride polymer or copolymer and a butadiene acrylonitrile copolymer. These may be wound in a tape form or extruded, or a strip may be wrapped longitudinally around the conductor, to form two uniform layers of insulation. The relative thickness of the insulations may be varied within wide limits according to the desired characteristics of the composite insulation. The resistance to crushing of the two-layer arrangement is stated to be greater than the resistance of the two individual layers.
