Abstract

A high voltage line conductor has a conductor (3) covered with insulation and shielded against spark-over generated by contact with another conductor. The insulation includes an inner semiconductive layer (4), a layer of the main insulation (1) and an outer weatherproof surface insulation layer (2). Pref. the insulation is crosslinkable polyethylene or an EP rubber. The weatherproof layer may be of the main insulation blended with 2-3% carbon black. Also claimed is the use of a conductor as above.
