Abstract

1474167 Cable joints and terminations BICC Ltd 21 June 1974 [22 June 1973] 29734/73 Heading H2E The subject-matter, namely, a method of jointing or terminating an electric cable having at least one conductor surrounded by a dielectric and joints and terminations produced by that method, is generally the same as that of Specification 1,473,499 except that the vulcanizable layer (9) and separate polyethylene tape (10) of that Specification are replaced by a coated tape 18 comprising a polyethylene base 19 coated at least on the side nearer the conductor 2 by vulcanizable ethylene-propylene elastomer 20. In addition the outer layer of heat-shrinkable tape forming a replacement screen 11 may be semi-conducting ethylene-propylene elastomer of semi-conducting polyethylene with a coating of the elastomer.
