Abstract

The telecommunication cable consists of several conductors (1) each coated in a plastics insulating sleeve (2). The sleeves are extruded over the conductors and they are then immediately brought together so that they join one another at a point (3) on their circumference. The coated conductors are then twisted. Alternatively, all the sleeves may be extruded simultaneously - i.e. the join between them is formed during extrusion itself instead of immediately afterwards. The separately extruded sleeves may also be bonded together after extrusion. The sleeves can be colour coded or otherwise coded by e.g. using ridges on the insulators.
